RetroNotes Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 7, 2026
1. Introduction
RetroNotes is an offline-first notes app designed to help users write, organize, and store notes locally.
This Privacy Policy explains how RetroNotes handles information when you use the app. RetroNotes is designed to minimize data collection. The app does not require an account, does not include advertising, and does not use analytics or tracking services.
By using RetroNotes, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Summary
RetroNotes does not collect, sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data.
Your notes are stored locally on your device or in a folder location selected by you. RetroNotes does not upload your notes to servers controlled by the developer.
3. Information RetroNotes Does Not Collect
RetroNotes does not collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Your contacts
- Your precise location
- Your photos
- Your calendar
- Your browsing history
- Usage analytics
- Advertising identifiers
- Tracking data
- Crash analytics through third-party analytics services
- The content of your notes
RetroNotes does not use advertising networks, tracking SDKs, or third-party analytics SDKs.
4. Notes and Local Files
RetroNotes stores notes as local files.
Depending on your settings and platform, each note may be saved as:
- Markdown files
- TXT files
These files are stored on your device or in a storage location selected by you through the app.
RetroNotes does not transmit the content of your notes to the developer. The developer cannot access, read, recover, restore, or delete your notes remotely.
You are responsible for backing up your own notes and files.
5. Custom Data Location
RetroNotes Pro may allow you to choose a custom data folder.
When you choose a custom folder, RetroNotes uses access to that folder only to read, write, organize, and update your note files.
RetroNotes does not send the contents of that folder to the developer or to a developer-controlled server.
6. iCloud, Files, and Device Storage
RetroNotes may store files in locations available on your device, including local device storage, the Files app, iCloud Drive, or a folder selected by you.
If you choose to store RetroNotes files in iCloud Drive or another cloud-backed storage location, syncing and storage may be handled by Apple or the relevant storage provider. RetroNotes does not control those services.
Please review the privacy practices of Apple or any storage provider you choose to use.
7. In-App Purchases
RetroNotes may offer a one-time in-app purchase called RetroNotes Pro.
In-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. The developer does not receive or store your payment card number, billing credentials, or App Store payment details.
RetroNotes may use Apple’s StoreKit system to determine whether RetroNotes Pro has been purchased, restored, refunded, or revoked. This information is used only to unlock or manage Pro features inside the app.
8. No Account Required
RetroNotes does not require you to create an account or log in.
Because RetroNotes does not operate user accounts, the developer does not store user profiles, passwords, account identifiers, or login credentials for RetroNotes users.
9. Email Support
If you contact the developer by email, the developer may receive the information you choose to include in your message, such as your email address, device information, app version, screenshots, and a description of your issue.
This information is used only to respond to your support request and improve support quality. It is not used for advertising or tracking.
Please avoid sending sensitive note content unless it is necessary for support.
10. Data Sharing
RetroNotes does not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with third parties.
RetroNotes does not share your notes with the developer, advertisers, analytics providers, or data brokers.
11. Data Retention
RetroNotes does not store your notes on developer-controlled servers.
Your notes remain on your device or in the storage location you choose until you delete them.
If you contact support by email, support correspondence may be retained for a reasonable period to respond to your request and maintain support records.
12. Data Deletion
Because RetroNotes stores notes locally, you can delete your data by:
- Deleting notes inside the app
- Deleting RetroNotes folders or files from your device
- Deleting the RetroNotes app from your device
- Deleting files from any custom folder you selected
If you contacted support and want your support email correspondence deleted, you may request deletion by contacting:
support@retronotes.com
13. Children’s Privacy
RetroNotes is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children.
Because RetroNotes does not require an account, does not include advertising, and does not use analytics or tracking services, the app is designed to minimize privacy risks for all users.
14. Security
RetroNotes is designed to keep your notes local and under your control.
However, no device, operating system, or storage location can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should protect your device with a passcode, biometric authentication, and regular backups if your notes are important.
15. International Use
RetroNotes may be available in multiple countries or regions.
Because RetroNotes does not operate developer-controlled note storage servers, your notes remain in the storage locations you choose, subject to the rules and privacy practices of your device, operating system, and storage provider.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time.
If RetroNotes changes how it handles data, this Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect those changes.
The “Effective Date” at the top of this page indicates when this Privacy Policy was last updated.
