About RetroDisk

RetroDisk transfers user-selected files directly between two iPhones with their screens and cameras. It does not require internet access, Bluetooth, AirDrop, a local network, a cable, an account, or an external transfer server.

Common Support Topics

1. Start a Transfer

Open RetroDisk on both iPhones. Select Send File on one device and Receive File on the other, then choose a file on the sending device.

2. Position the iPhones

Keep the two screens facing each other. Hold both devices steady and keep both screens visible to the opposite front camera.

3. File Size

The maximum file size is 1.44 MB. Larger files are rejected before transfer begins.

4. Camera Permission

Camera access is required to read the changing optical codes shown by the other iPhone. If access was denied, enable Camera for RetroDisk in iPhone Settings.

5. Transfer Reliability

Increase screen brightness, avoid glare, keep the devices steady, and maintain a clear view between each screen and the opposite camera.

6. File Verification

RetroDisk uses SHA-256 to verify final file integrity. A file is offered for saving only after verification succeeds.

7. Network and Accounts

RetroDisk does not require a network connection or account. No external transfer server is involved.

8. Before Contacting Support

Include both iPhone models, iOS versions, RetroDisk version, file type, file size, and the step where the transfer stopped. Do not send the private file itself unless necessary.
